help this 1st time mommy install a backseat mirror
I feel so stupid asking but how the heck does this mirrorRainforest Mobile Mirror
get installed in the back seat? DH put the carseat in last night and he said there is no way the mirror can stay up in the middle of the back seat because there's no head rest thingy. My carseat is in the middle (rear facing)
The picture shows it can. I don't get it. Can someone help me out?

There should be a tab with velcro on it. But in my car, that didn't fit either. it wasn't long enough. I couldn't use it.

I think there is a LATCH clip on the top of the seat in the back window. You clip it on and it hangs face down, then lift it up and use the velcro piece to hold it in place.

I was told by my saftey car seat check people not to have a mirror, b/c it can detach during an accident and could harm the baby. So we returned ours.

Re: help this 1st time mommy install a backseat mirror
I didn't see a latch clip on the top of the seat but I did place it in the middle and I have it kind of wedged between the top of the backseat window to the part where the back seat starts. So its not attached to anything really which doesn't make me feel great. I kind of feel like getting rope and tieing it from each side to something. It's ridiculous though. I feel like I'm missing something, that I'm not doing it right. It doesn't appear that it will fall forward when I stop but of course you never know since it's not attached to anything. Like I said I have it more wedged in place that attached to something. I just feel that can't be right.

Yes, the Suffolk police officer who checked our seats said the same. In an accident they can detach and projectile right into the baby so they advise nothing like that in the back seat.

I don't think it would detach if it was hooked in by the tether strap. Afterall, carseats are hooked in with the tether strap, so I'm pretty sure it's safe.
If you don't have a tether, I wouldn't bother with it.

Re: help this 1st time mommy install a backseat mirror
We used bungie cord to put ours up.
We strung it around the two side headrests and then used the velcro piece around that.
We have an SUV though, so I'm not sure that works everywhere.
It's VERY securely in place - we tried pulling it down ourselves and couldn't, so I don't believe it would become a projectile easily.
It's important for me to be able to see what's going on with him in the back when I'm driving.
