Help with bee sting
I was at a BBQ today and got stung by a yellowjacket. Under my arm, almost by my armpit (I am guessing it was attracted to my smelly deoderant .) I iced it and I am not allergic, but I did get a headache, which I took 2 Excedrin for. Well, now I am home, its been about 6 hours now, and its killing me. Anything I can do to make it stop hurting? It's not unbearable, just hurts like a sting

Re: Help with bee sting
You removed the barb, right?
Other than ice & maybe benedryl to help with the swelling, I'm out of ideas.

Re: Help with bee sting
you're gonna laugh but spray windex on it...or in this case just dab some on a napkin and put it on the sting. the ammonia will help to subdue the pain.
pop and anithistamine and continue to ice it and you'll be good as new!

Re: Help with bee sting
Make sure you got the stinger out.
Ice and benedryl
A spray of local anesthetic containing benzocaine, such as Solarcaine, may help relieve pain.

Re: Help with bee sting
I've read that a paste of baking soda and water helps the itching, etc.
DH had a sting a couple of months ago; we tried a whole bunch of home remedies, this helped for a little while, but didn't fix it all - turns out he is allergic and we were in the emergency room for a while...

Re: Help with bee sting
Thanks, I will try anything! I just saw the related topics too
As far as the stinger being out, I really can't tell. It's behind my arm, where I can't see. I looked at it in the mirror and it just looks like a red, raised dot. Dh is no help at all

Benadryl, ice, ibuprofin. I don't know how well the home remedies work, but they are worth a try!

Re: Help with bee sting
sounds crazy but it works if you dont know if the stinger is out. Get your self some meat tendizer (accent) and make a paste with water, put it on the site and it will draw it out.
Also, take an aspirin crush it and make a paste also, will make the swelling go down.
I have had many bee stings so I'm kinda an old pro

see, i got that advice when DH had a bee sting a few weeks ago and i did it. he said it didnt help and when we brought him to the doctor and we told him our home remedies he literally laughed at me.
he told me the ammonia is always the best bet and it helps get rid of the itch for bug bites too.

Re: Help with bee sting
Try tobacco. Wet the end of a ciggie and hold it on there. It draws out the venom.

I agree with this!
One summer, we were having a bbq at my uncles house. Well we find a bee hive over the door. He swats at is with a broom, all the while we are screaming at him not to do that. Well, you guessed it. He got stung right in his head. We called poison control or something and they said to do this. So my poor uncle, walked around with this meat tenderizer paste in his head as we all laughed at him. But IT WORKED!
Hope you're feeling better by now though!
