Help with Laptops

So I have never owned one, but I am going to be going back to school in the fall and I would like to get one.

any recommendations? or any one have one they hate?

I need just basic functions, like internet, microsoft word and uploading pictures.

I have a Mac Powerbook, but I needed it for a lot of graphics files. BIL has a Sony Vaio & raved about it, but I think he is getting that new toughbook one.... not sure who makes it.

I have 2 Toshibas that I love. I would never ever again get a Dell. It was a parts machine for me, meaning I kept having to replace parts on it. In the 3 yrs I had one I replaced 6 things including the hard drive.

Brian loves his MacBook. He used to love his Sony Vaio until after 3 years the fan went. I love my Sony Vaio.

I have a Dell Latitude D600 that my company gave me. it's awesome!

I bought DH a laptop last year, also a Dell, but not the same kind that I have. can't remember the model though.

Dell laptops are GREAT

I have an iBook. It's WONDERFUL.

So reliable. I've had it a year. No crashes, no viruses, very easy to use, and it really helped me get through school, plus they have good educational discounts. Right now you get a free iPod Nano with purchase of any Mac.

Also, check with your school. At my school we got Office Pro for free, so I didn't need to buy it through apple.


Once you go mac, you never go back!

I would buy a new MacBook in a sec- so easy to use.
I have the Mac Powerbook from 3 years ago and it's still going strong-
Yes, Macs are good for graphics, but they are also just good for your regular day-to-day computing.
I got mine when I went back to grad school- it was excellent.

Also, their customer service is excellent. They stayed on the phone with me for hours helping me set up my network, and they were so helpful to me.

The only downside I've experienced at all was that I couldn't run The Sims 2 on it. I mean if I wanted to buy it again and all of the expansion packs I could...some software comes out later for Mac, but not the major productivity software like office, just games, etc.

I have two...a Toshiba and an IBM. Needless to say, I LOVE the IBM, but the Toshiba is OK too.
