Re: Help with Window Treatments (pics)...
LOVE the colors.
since the room isn't that formal, i think bamboo blinds would blend well. i would leave the arched window bare.

Re: Help with Window Treatments (pics)...
Nothing on the arch? What are plantation shutters? The old owner had like a swag type thing on the arches and nothing on the windows...

the arch is a really nice design element that IMO, should not be hidden or embellished. i like privacy so i would add something to the windows.
search the smith & noble site for ideas. as i recall they have pics of similar window styles.

Yes, I somewhat agree with not hiding that window but here, I found a pic of what the previous owner did...

i LOVE toile but the toile and the lace, UGH! yeah, IMO the arch swag is really too much, not needed and doesn't look right. perhaps a different style would look better though. not liking this at all.

I wasn't a huge fan of the lace either but the toile swag was interesting... But maybe the plantation shutters are a good idea, I like them... maybe I will keep the arch as is, thanks Skew!

i like the idea of plantation shutters but wondering if it would be too much white. obviosuly the room is accented in white (trim), just not sure if the shutters would be too "OMG white". KWIM?
the bamboo or woven blinds would work well w/ the style of the room and add a subtle touch.

Not sure either, I am going to go to the Curtain Store and see what they have for me to look at...

Re: Help with Window Treatments (pics)...
Yikes, that was overkill - what the previous owner did.
Plantation shutters come in a variety of colors/stains, not just white.

i don't really like what the previous owners did. i would leave the top window with nothing on it. the plantation shutters seem like they would look great on that window!

Re: Help with Window Treatments (pics)...
We have a window like that in our great room. I just put a scraf on it. I didn't want to cover it.
Here are a couple pictures

ITA on both points!
and let me just say that your lighting fixture is sooooooo much nicer than the old owners! they just had way too much going on in there!

I know, thankfully they took all of their fixtures

i don't think it is needed but you could also add a decorative fan style shutter on the arch.

Re: Help with Window Treatments (pics)...
Beautiful room. I would do plantation shutters on the lower half if you need privacy or a sheer scarf if you don't.

Not loving the fan shutter...
Yup, need privacy, it's very open now b/c we just removed a large tree that was in front of that window...
