Help!!!!!! Yeast infections in young girls
How do they treat them?
My daughter isn't that young - she is 11. She has been on antibiotics for strep and lo and behold, I think she has the beginnings of a yeast infection. She told me she is "itchy". She won't eat yogurt so I have her taking an acidophelous (?) supplement. I have some monistat cream and had her put it all around down there, but she is by no means ready to insert anything. I mentioned something to the effect of that and she immediately melted down.
This started last night and she said she is feeling a little better - but I don't know if it will fully clear up this way. I know I've seen some women with daughter's on here that had yeast infections, so I'm wondering how their Dr.'s treated them.
I have a call in to my gynocologist to see what he says, but I just thought I'd ask because I'm impatient. Lord knows what time he will get back to me.

Jumping on here to answer - there is a prescription pill - Diflucan - maybe her pediatrician will prescribe it?
