Helpful info about the flu and flu shots from WebMD
I wanted to post this separately from the Pro/Con thread to not imply that I was trying to change anyone's opinion. I've always believed in the flu shots, and I just wanted to post some facts that not everyone (including myself until just now) knows about.
http://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/flu-basics
Healthy adults may be able to infect others 1 day before getting symptoms and up to 5 days after getting sick. Therefore, it is possible to give someone the flu before you know you are sick as well as while you are sick.
Top 12 Flu myths
Aside from the short-term misery and lost workdays, flu can have more serious implications. Sure, most people who get the flu recover just fine. But the flu also hospitalizes 200,000 people in the U.S. each year. It kills about 36,000. That’s close to the number of women killed by breast cancer each year, and more than twice the number of people killed by AIDS.
Flu Myth #2: The flu vaccine can give you the flu.
This is the flu myth most likely to drive experts bonkers. “There is simply no way that the flu vaccine can give you the flu,” says Hay. “It’s impossible.”

everyone can believe what they want---but the flu nasal spray is a is a live virus from what I was told. My family members get a mild case every single time...my mom...worse then mild. the shot is dead but contains ammonium sulfate---they use it to fertilize crops. That does not sit well with me. Again...if my dd still had asthma then ok.. but she does not. everyone has a opinion---but the spray is 100000% live virus.

I re-read the post--heres another problem--say...they are right on the money with the vaccination strain---which doctors have admitted they rarely are. There almost always is a shortage-so if a healthy adult can give it to someone before getting sick-not everyone is getting one anyhow... the sick-elderly=asthmatics and young all get it first if theres a shortage.

I agree about the FluMist being live. I've never gotten that, and have no plans on ever getting that. I haven't done enough research on it, and I've never had a negative reaction to the shots, so I see no reason to use the mist.
I'm not trying to sway anyone's opinion, or what they want to do with their body, I'm just posting facts so everyone can make their own educated decisions, either for or against the shots.
The risk of death for diabetics is significantly higher than other adults, so my decision is pretty easy.
