Helping to plan bridal shower.. Dos and Donts please!!
We want her to have a terrific time!! Would like suggestions on what you liked and didnt like at showers? Want our guests and bride to walk away saying "wow that was so much fun!" lol.. Thanks

i would suggest trying to figure out what she wants then... what i find fun at a shower might not be what she does...
my shower was at a bar... we had no games... presents went by in a blur... and i was out till 4 am and didnt wake up till 4 the next day...

true.. Ill have to ask my brother what shes into and maybe ask him for her friends emails.. Your bridal shower sounds like my kinda shower!! lol..

a group activity is lots of fun...if that's the vibe of the group. I had a belly dancer and women and girls of all ages were up and groovin'...something everyone can get in on is always good.

This is my kind of shower, but definitely does not describe the type I have attended.
I agree with finding out what the bride would like and go from there.

I had a great time at my surprise shower..it was just friends and family (the only male there was FIL..lol) and we all had a good time.
There was only two games which was fine with me since it was mostly an older crowd. The opening of presents and the "ooohh and aaahhs" of course. I had a great time and it was at a local VFW hall and it was catered. The colors were lavender and white (lavender, pink and white were my wedding colors- lavender being my fav color) and it was really nice.
But just find out what the bride likes.. and take it from there.

We had games at my shower- I didn't want any games. I told them so. They didn't listen. 
It was fine, everyone else enjoyed them. If I could go back, I probably would've had my gifts wrapped in clear so I didn't have to spend 2 hours opening them. Not that I minded  but the guests might've been bored. Good thing we had a lot of booze.

We did a few games, not many. I opened gifts quickly, we did an assembly line style opening w/my bridesmaids... One took the card and bow off, one half opened the gift for me, one opened the card and handed it to me, the others took the opened gifts and wrote what they were and who they were from then packaged back up and stacked them on another table. It was nice this way considering no one wants to go to a shower and watch someone else open gifts for hours on end. Drinks are a plus too, maybe a cute powerpoint slideshow of their childhood and relationship together so far. Good luck!

Honestly, a shower without games is dreadfully boring. I know they're cheesy sometimes but as a guest at least it gives me something to do!

we didn't open gifts at my shower. The invite asked guests to leave presents unwrapped and I was able to see what everyone got me without wasting 5 hours unwrapping presents.
The majority of the party was so happy to not have to watch me open a toaster or towels for an hour lol

i know not everyone will agree, and it def can be a lot more work, but i find the showers that are at someones home go by a lot better and i enjoy more. its more comfortable and easier to talk to people. just my little 2 cents..
