Help...my cat just ate a piece of Holly!!!
I know it is poisonous and we had it in a closed off room but he got in there a stole a piece. He probably ate less than 1/4 a leave. He then proceeded to projectile vomit and it looked like it came all up....hopefully.
Do you think he is ok? He is my baby and I'm so worried.
I tried to call the vet and they are closed.

Re: Help...my cat just ate a piece of Holly!!!
If he just ate a tiny piece of one leaf, he should be fine. It's the berries that are poisonous. The leaves may just lead to an upset stomach.
Call the vet to be safe, but I bet your kitty will be fine. You probably won't even have to go to the vet.
3.) Holly - Holly is another Christmas favorite. The red berries on the holly plant can be poisonous if consumed in large amounts. Symptoms of holly poisoning include: GI upset, vomiting and diarrhea. Like mistletoe if a small amount of berries were consumed things will probably be okay but if a larger amount of the berries were consumed the pet may suffer with vomiting and diarrhea, if this is the case then worry about dehydration and electrolyte imbalance.
Treatment - Always play it safe and call your veterinarian immediately and follow their instructions. If the animal has GI upset it may need IV fluids to prevent dehydration and correct any electrolyte imbalance.

Thanks for the responses guys. Kara... I found that info and he did not eat any berries....thank goodness. After he vomited, he ate and drank a bunch...he is just fine.
I hate having any plants around for that reason.
