Heparin injection

Does anyone have any experience with Heparin injections? The bruising is unbelievable. Can I inject other places besides my belly? They have me using insulin needles so I am unable to switch needles for the draw and the injection which makes it a little dull. Any advice?

Never did Heparin but I did Lovenox and I think it works the same way.

Lovenox needles were small but I felt they were sooo sharp. Not much to do to prevent bruising. But I would put an ice cube on the spot for like 10 seconds; just enough to numb the area. Then I'd pinch my belly with one hand and inject with other. Didn't feel a thing.

But it will still bruise unfortunately.

Thanks for the response. Do you happen to know if it is ok to lie in the sun with my belly bruised (aside from how it will look). I've been trying to read online whether sun exposure is good or bad for the bruising but I can't seem to find a straight answer.

I did heparin for a few weeks before delivery. I never had bruising that bad and never had a dull needle just because of the draw. You need to move around your belly so you aren't injecting in the same site for a few days.

I did both lovenox and heparin and bruised horrendously no matter where I did it on my stomach. I looked sick, it was awful.
I went on a cruise, and sat in the sun and turned unrecognizably dark - I chalked it up to either lovenox or progesterone bc at the time I was on both. No matter how much sunscreen I used, didn't matter. I got crispy. I don't k ow if it was safe persay.
