Is anyone taking Herbs to control hunger and promotes weight loss.

I am reading this book guide to Vitamins and Herbs...

I purchased the book mainly for the sake of my DH and taking asprin for his headaches... so I wanted to see if there was something he can take on a reg basics.
But what I did come across was some of the following herbs..

Coenzyme Q 10 promotes weight loss 100-300 miligrams daily
5 HTP which reduces hunger and promotes weight loss 100 milli. daily
Carnitine helps metabolize fat and reduce feeling of hunger 2 grams daily

it also advices you to drink at least 8 8 oz a water a day, and drink water 20 mins before a meal your brain will recognize that youre stomach feels full.
