What is this basicaly saying that they are low in everything except Bromine and since that there are no regulations for Bromine they can put as much as they want in it???? Can anyone explain this better to me, thanks.

RESPONSE:

The HealthyToys.org report issued on December 3, 2009, notes an overall “High” level of chemicals found in the Learn & Groove Musical Table.

Specifically, they list the bromine level in the Learn & Groove Musical Table as “High.” Bromine is a component in a family of fire-retardant chemicals known as brominated flame retardants (BFRs).

HealthyToys.org has defined a “High Level” of bromine as more than 1,000 parts per million, however there are no guidelines or regulations in regard to the use of bromine in toys. As HealthyToys.org states on their site, these “ratings do not provide a measure of health risk or chemical exposure associated with any individual toy or children’s product, or any individual element or related chemical.”

Arsenic and lead also are listed as chemicals found in “Low” levels in the Learn & Groove Musical Table. The amounts of these chemicals reported to be in the Learn & Groove Musical Table are well below the limits prescribed by applicable laws.

For example, the current standard for total lead in children’s products is 300 parts per million(ppm) and under the Consumer Safety Product Improvement Act (CPSIA) this level is expected to be reduced to 100 ppm in August 2011. The Learn & Groove Musical Table meets both the current regulation, as well as the 2011 regulation.
