Here's my weekly "What did you do this weekend?" post
DH & I kicked arse this weekend. Saturday we finished putting up the new fence to keep the chickens off the grass(when it grows) & did a few other things in the yard. We also planned out the pond.
This morning we got up early & started working in the freezing cold.
You've got to use your imagination to visualize the final product because we are growing all new grass & the short nasty stockade fence is just there temporarily till DH finished building the picket fence with gate that will lead to my hammock area. Also the green garden wire fence is the chicken run & that will have growing vines on it. We need about a yard of dirt to build up the back of the pond & all the misc plants you see laying around will get planted there.
We dug the trench & ran the electric but didn't hook it up yet so the pump isn't hooked up. so the water looks dirty & the hose is just floating around.
Here is a before of this area in the summer, my hammock will still be in the same spot & the tree is a dogwood
of course everything looks so ugly without grass
The very best part of this project is it came from almost 100% recycled/used/free stuff
-Pond Liner & filter & UV light & 2 under water plants-$30 craigslist
-Slate-Free from DiamondGrly last Spring
-Ornamental Grasses(they look dead but they are not)-free from DiamondGirly last Spring
-All other plants, bushes, bulbs & shrubs free from Craigslist
-All round stones-free-they were all buried in our yard.
-Pump & new tubing $69.00
I'll post more pics as we add the dirt to the burm & the plants continue to bloom.
So lets get some updates from everyone else!

Ripped up carpet and tile
Put down plywood to level all floors

Tomorrow: Shop for area rug and dishwasher

FH put in ceramic tile in the kitchen.
tomorrow we are shopping for granite and a new stove.
FH did the hardwoods last week, I have pics in my album, but everything from the kitchen is in the living room, so the pics arent that good.

played ping pong and darts in our newly finished basement....ok so it isnt a home improvement, but we have been finishing the basement on and off for the last two months so it was exciting to finally be able to enjoy it!!!

This weekend...ok...lets see...
Friday - LR/DR & Hallway carpet was laid. DH & I FINALIZED the set up for our LR/DR. Hung our drapes.
Saturday - I was unpacking more boxes! YEAH! Got to put away all our dishes in the DR. Unpacked the liquor!  Organized Grammie's room a little more.
Sunday - 2 hr HD trip. Resulted in buying a new toilet for the master bath Didn't install yet - saving that for next Sunday (I hope!) Fixed showerhead in master bath. Installed steel rods in closet - organzied our closet (got rid of a LOT of clothes!) Swapped out old metal electrical boxes for smart boxes - still have more to do Oh and unpacked more boxes...
I can't wait to start working outside!

-ripped out astroturf from patio, cleaned patio, just needs to be powerwashed and got patio furniture from my Mom this weekend.

bought our new doors at lowes, hung some more curtains. Picked out our siding color- not too much hard labor this weeked cause Dh pulled a muscle on thrus.

Did "spring clean up" in the front yard. Getting ready for flowers
Had a landscaper give us an estimate for leveling the backyard.
Bought a new stove.
Pretty lazy weekend around the house.

I put a cabinet (cheap wall type from Target) in my master bath.
DH started sanding and priming the 2nd hand furniture we bought for the baby's room.
Cleaned the upstairs...downstairs is still a mess from construction but the floors will be done in 2 weeks then everything gets cleaned and organized.

We spackled and sanded the walls and put up the first coat!
Of course (you know me  ), I'm unsure about the paint color, but we'll see how it looks with a second coat.

We put in a linolium floor in our kitchen and we're having our hard wood floors sanded and stained on Tuesday/Wednesday.
