heros/other party food suggestions
We are having my son's party at our house, and were planning on doing heros, salad (tossed) hot pasta and chx with artichokes-
I invited about 40-50 people, but since we're out of state, I know many won't be able to make it..
I have been pricing out heros-found a local deli that does them $15 per foot, is this the norm?
what did you serve at your child's first birthday? My first time doing it and could use some insight-
Thank you!!!

Re: heros/other party food suggestions
We had a 5 ft hero, salads, meatballs, pasta salad, ziti, and chicken franchaise. I think 15 might be a little high - check with the supermarkets as well.

Re: heros/other party food suggestions
I think we paid about $13.95 for heroes by the foot. For DD's first bday we had 6 foot hero; baked ziti; sausage & peppers; hot dogs (initially b4 other food) & then cold salad & pasta salad.

Re: heros/other party food suggestions
I'm having DDs 3rd birthday at the house (it's her first "biggish" party-though only around 25-30 people).
I am in the south and apparently, people down here don't do parties like us NYers unless you are from NY. So, here is what I am doing:
3 sandwich circles (like heroes but in the shape of a circle), each feeds 15. Potato salad/maceroni salad 2 baked ziti trays 2 penne vodka Meatballs Chicken nuggets Uncrustable PB& J things that Smuckers makes
Chips & Dips Cake Cupcakes Ice cream

$15 is a little high unless you're getting specialty sandwiches.

Re: heros/other party food suggestions
$15 is kind of high. Check out a local grocery store like Stop and Shop they will use premium cold cuts and probably will not charge that much.
For my birthday parties I've had
Heros Lasagna Stuffed Shells Chicken Cutles Eggplant parm Fried Shrimp Sausauge & Peppers Peas with onions and mushrooms Cheeseburgers & hotdogs French Fries Calamari Vegetable Salad Baked Clams Meatballs Rolls corn
I would also include a vegetable platter with dip and a cold antipasto platter (artichockes, olives, cheeses, red peppers etcl)

Re: heros/other party food suggestions
$15 is a little high, unless they are providing the paper good and or a pickle/olive tray with it. We just had DS's Christening at our house for about 25 people and we paid $13/foot for heroes, paper goods (which worked out great), and all of the salads (mac/potato/coleslaw). I would shop around if you can.
