Hershey's first day home alone
well... DH can no longer take hershey to work everyday since his office moved to a new building. today is the first day of Hershey being alone all day
we have started out by only giving him access to the kitchen.... we have an automatic doggie door opener so he is able to come in and out when he needs to. its just really sad knowing hes home alone... but i guess this had to have happened sooner or later

How did it go? I vividly remember the first day I had to leave my dog home alone - I cried!

he did GREAT!!!
didnt chew anything and since we have an automatic doggie door for him, he was able to come and go as he pleased!
it was SO hard leaving him again this morning b/c he just looked at me when i left for work saying "arent you going to take me with you??"
its for the best though... he needs to be a big boy!!

That is so awesome!!
How old is Hershey again?
Maddie will still chew something on occassion if we don't crate her (she's 16 months) but maybe the doggie door is something to think about (although I think she'd then spend ALL day outside which would make me a little nervous).

Awww! So glad it all went well. He'll get used to it as time goes on - ours love it when we leave now, because they get a treat, and then they get to nap uninterrupted all day

hershey is almost 7 months.
yeah the thought of him possibly spending all day outside made ME a little nervous too.... but he isnt a digger (yet anyways lol) so i've spent a lot of time watching him in the yard alone and he just walks around sniffing things, chasing birds and laying in the sun. the automatic doggie door was a bit on the expensive side, but it was the BEST purchase EVERRRRRR!!

Maddie loves laying in the sun too and is probably all she would do anyway!!! Our yard is very large - maybe that's what makes me nervous.
I've got DH thinking about the doggie door!
