I used beef because I had it in the house. I was going to try the turkey next time. I think if I do the turkey, when I brown it, I will put some onion in there for flavor.

i would prob use beef. dh doesnt like turkey and i made a mistake of making it once with meat sauce and it was  i did however make turkey chili in the crockpot and that wasnt bad,

Yeah, my DH hates the turkey too. It is better if you doctor it up with lots of seasoning. Me and my girls are good with it.

Awesome!! Isn't it delicious? I love meals I can just put all together and then bake and it's done. I'm not a great cook so this was very easy for me... it's really good leftover too!

OMG I am so glad you posted this!
Years and years ago at an old job someone gave me a recipe for this and I totally forgot about how good it was until I just saw this post!
I must revisit this!!
And FWIW, if you buy extra lean grond beef (93/7) it is actually leaner, less fat and less calories than turkey.
We never use turkey anymore- after seeing the nutrition info I was shocked that the lean beef is actually better.
