Re: High fever at birth???
My sister had a fever when she delivered and I my niece also had one. My niece stayed in the hospital for almost a week just so they could keep an eye on her and make sure everything was okay. She is now a beautiful 13 year old going on 40!
I hope everything is okay

THat happened to me with DD. They do the tests because it may be a complication from Group B Strep and it could be very serious for the baby if left untreated.

Re: High fever at birth???
I developed a low grade fever while pushing and my DD developed a fever as well. They had to give her IV anitbiotics and she had to have blood cultures and a chest x-ray but thankfully all was well and she got to go home with me. She never had to go to the NICU because the fever broke fairly quickly and she was feeding well.

Re: High fever at birth???
My sister & niece had a fever within a day or two after my niece was born.
They do a spinal tap to make sure it's not menegitis or something else brewing & give antibiotics.
They were released from the hospital but my niece had to have IV antiobiotics at home for awhile after.

Re: High fever at birth???
I developed a fever during labor and was put on antibiotics, and my boys went to the NICU unit for monitoring, and did tests, but everything came back fine and they came home with me.
