High white blood cell count
so i took my glucose test last week and i called my OB to get the results. i get two nurses that call me back and leave messages - but they don't say the results of the test. i finally get a nurse on the phone at the OB and she tells me glucose was fine BUT i have a high white blood cell count she said that it could just be my body is fighting an infection, but i feel fine. of course, i go online to research and i see that it could be leukemia! i go back next week for another round of bloodwork to see how things are. Has anyone had this before?

Re: High white blood cell count
mine has been high twice during the pregnancy. ONe time i had a cold and the other a UTI. It means your body is fighting an infection. Do you know what the number is? For it to be lukemia, it would need to be off the charts high...like in the hundreds!
Are you feeling sick at all?

Re: High white blood cell count
I haven't had this, but it could be anything. Do not stress it may be nothing. You just posted about bloody noses, it could be as simple as a sinus infection.

Re: High white blood cell count
You can't start getting medical info off google & the internet.
I'm sure you have had blood taken before... you must have had your white count followed before.
A winter cold is SO MUCH more likely than leukemia.

Re: High white blood cell count
You could have anything from a UTI w/ no symptoms, to a cold coming on. I am sure it is nothing too serious.

I am in the same boat!! Just got the call yesterday that my WBC was high. My OB suggested I got a hematologist, so I have an appointment next week. Hopefully everything is ok. I'm hoping its just the tail end of a cold i've been fighting.
