HIghchair question

Hello from the pregnancy board!
If you don't mind, I thought I would ask you moms for some advice.
The highchair I am in love with is only for 6 months- 3 years.
I have heard on the grapevine that you don't really even use the high chair until about 6 months- is this true?
Or will I regret not having a high chair for a 4 month old?
TIA!

I have used it since he was 3 months old. Is it a wooden one?

Re: HIghchair question

We didn't use the highchair until DC started eating "food", which was probably around 6 months or so, I think. Before then, we just kept DC in our laps, and used the bottle.

Re: HIghchair question

That's what I thought.
It's this one, so I would definitely not feel comfortable putting a 3 or 4 month old in it.
I am finding it so frustrating to find one I like 100%- why don't these stores actually carry all the brands in stock? I need to test them out!

I would never buy one that didn't lean back. I used that feature for awhile. Actually he is still a little leaned back.

I'm not sure...

I used my highchair from 3 months. At 3 months the girls just joined us at the table and 4 months is when most babies start eating food. I suppose you could use the bouncy chair for a couple of months, but my DD#2 is 5 months and practically leaps out of that thing and has been doing that for at least a month...could never feed her in it!

We used the infant to toddler rockers before 6 months.

Actually, I'm still doing thatChat Icon We started in the highchairs at 5 months but Chat Icon was still a bit small for it and would slump to the side a bit.

Re: HIghchair question

Thanks ladies- you made my decision easier!
My second choice is the PegPerego Prima Pappa Diner- does anyone have that? The tray seems annoying- since you have to line up the poles to insert, instead of it just sliding on the chair. But it's the only other option that is available in store, and has that in-between the legs bar that stays put, which I want...
I don't like the Fisher Price one...

Re: HIghchair question

My DD was in her high chair at about 3 months - she had very good neck control & the chair reclines - It's an Evenflow chair from Babies R Us. It was the best thing for her. Here she is the first time we put her in it:

Re: HIghchair question

I just started really using his high chair now - if you love it, get it - you really shouldnt need one until the baby is 6 mts - I usually fed Cailen in his bouncy chair.... I still do, sometimes...

I didn't use my highchair until DS was 6 months and have never used the lean back feature on it. I guess it depends on how early you start solids. We waited until just before 6 months.

Well...if you have a bouncy or a stroller or something like that you don't have to use the high chair. DS started solids at 4 mos though, and that's when I started using the high chair. 2 months will go by fast though... IF you start solids at 4 mos which you may or may not...

Re: HIghchair question

I have the Chicco Polly. The recline feature has been a lifesaver for me. For months this was the only way DD would nap. I highly recommend getting one that reclines.

That is too cute that she naps in the high chair!!

The one OP posted reminds me of a Barber's chair Chat Icon

I have an Evenflo and I like it. I started using it when she started solids and it reclines to three positions, has a parent slide out tray, a zipper storage thing that attaches (great for bibs) and it folds up.

What I really love is the Chicco though! I saw it at the baby expo over the weekend and it folds sooo compact and the patterns are so cute!

Thanks guys!
As you can see, DS falls aleep all the time in it. I take these types of pictures at least 1x a week Chat Icon DH gets home too late at night to see him awake so this is me trying to show him that he needs to get home a little earlier to see DS! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
