Hmmmm... what do you think of this?
I posted a few days ago about my cellphone (razor) being broken....
Ive had nothing but problems with it since I got it in October.... and it finally broke completly... (well the screen still turn on...but nothing else happens)
I looked into buying another phone, but since I already have a plan it was gonna be $$$$
I went to a local cingular place today, the guy checked it out and gave me a number for cingular, and he said they'd replace my phone for free....
SO sure enough I called.... He made me take out the battery and asked me to tell him what color this round thing was (which was white) and then asked me what color the battery prongs were (gold) he then had me turn on the phone again... it still wasnt working... so he said he would be sending me a new phone asap....
He then reads me the "terms" he said that if they decide the phone has water damage, or physical damage- I will be responsible for paying them 210 bucks... I then say- well if Im gonna pay 210 bucks I most certainly am not buying another razor both ones we bought in october (my DH's and mine) were POS- (now my husband is rough on his phones- but Im not- I hardly use the thing)
The guys says he understands that- but as long as they dont find either of those problems with it... then the phone is free....
I then ask him about that color "test"- he tells me that if the dot had been pink or red... it meant it had water damagae (Or if the prongs were rusty...)
So I say- well then I guess that means there is no water damage... he says- well I cant say that for sure....
Now I have no clue how the phone broke... but it hasnt been in any water..... and he hasnt been really dropped.... so I agreed to have the new one sent...
However- how do I know- that they arent just gonna turn around and say... well its water damage now give us 200 bucks????

I have no advice. I think it's ridiculous that they can randomly decide whether or not a phone has water damage without even physically looking at it themselves. Hopefully they'll send you the new one with no further issues.

It sounds like they are honoring a warranty if the phone just stopped working but if it was determined the phone broke due to water damage or being dropped, etc then you will be be responsible for replacing the phone (unless you have insurance). Is there a way to use the phone they send as a loaner but if you do need to buy a phone, get something else?

I have no advice but I just wanted to say... Samsung just came out with their version of this phone and you better believe that I would MUCH rather have that one!

Kristin- Im sending them my phone... when the new phone gets here....
Christine- Yes- manufacturer warranty- and I agree with you.... but if they choose that the phone is damaged.... then why should I have to keep this phone...???? If Im gonna pay 200 bucks... Im picking out my damn phone!

Re: Hmmmm... what do you think of this?
Also- how do I know they arent pulling it outta there @ss???
The water sticker test... said there was no damage....
They could easily say something isnt covered under warranty... how would I know... THEY have the phone!

Ah, okay. So they're going to determine that once they see it. I don't blame you for wanting to choose your own phone if they decide your phone has been "water damaged". Maybe they make you pay $200 regardless of whether you keep the phone or not?

I think that's what bothers me most about your situation. Once they have it, there's no way you can prove otherwise that it wasn't damaged.

I dont get what your asking???
If they decide the phone is damaged... I will responsible to pay $210- if the decided the phone just malfunctioned then its free....
I said thats fine.... that if you decide that there is something wrong with the phone... the new one isnt free... BUT I feel I should be able to send it back, and buy one of MY choice!

Re: Hmmmm... what do you think of this?
Leave the phone with them and don't get a new one until you get an answer.

I had the same issue with my phone, took pics just in case of the WHITE dot and sent it back.
