Holding your baby....guilt
I am the mohter of a 1 month old little boy. He is a good baby, no real major problems - I am lucky. I am tired these days (name a mother that isn't) and I know I have to go back to work at the end of Nov. however, we all also know life around your house has to continue even with a baby. I gethim down and I know I shouldn't be holding him all day and then start feeling gulity b/c I know soon enough I won't be able to hold him as much as I want....i hate this and I hate these post-partum horomones. Thanks for the vent...

Hold him as much as you want! I have been reading about this lately (I was in your place 3 months ago) & basically, they can't be spoiled at this age (probably not until they're at least 6 months) and babies seem to be more adjusted when they feel "loved and secure".

I totally agree with this 100%!!!!!
Please don't think you are spoiling them! Every time you hold a newborn their brain grows! They need you now! Eventually they won't want to be held and you will look back on this special time!

Re: Holding your baby....guilt
OMG- enjoy it. Enjoy it!!!!
When DD was 9 months she began to walk and wanted nothing to do with being held. I would kill to hold and have her drink her bottle all snuggled up with me.
Enjoy every minute of it.

Keep holding him! There is nothing wrong with holding him, not at that age.

I have been feeling this way too. DS just cries for no reason except to be held. But I know the time is limited so I am just enjoying it!

Re: Holding your baby....guilt
At that age we held him all day long except for when he slept at night. Even then we got up frequently for him and sometimes took care of him during the night.
I had a Baby Bjorn and just got stuff done that way.
Around 4-5 months he started getting more independent and now at 9 months he can ask for hugs when he wants them and plays alone when he wants to. He's Mr. Cheery. And I think a big part of it was all the love and cuddles.
