holiday cooking shows and food coloring....
anyone else disturbed about some recipes on TV? I just saw sandra lee make a candycane cookie.... she had 2 doughs, one red, one white, and twisted them together. Together, it looked like enough dough for about 8 cookies.
But she put a WHOLE BOTTLE of red food coloring in the red dough 
I've heard that food coloring is frequently made of mildly toxic chemicals, but becuase you only need a couple drops for a batch of food, it is approved for use by the FDA. A whole bottle is not a couple drops!
Ditto for the red velvet cake recipes 
Tell me I'm not the only one who's disturbed by recipes like that....

I made that a few weeks ago, I put maybe 3 drops and it was red. Thats too much....
Waste of money too!

I saw that and I couldn't believe she said to use the whole bottle!! She never seems to make anything very appetizing to me.
