holy cannoli... PODS!

i didn't know those things were so expensive!!!

in preparing for our move, i called PODS to find out how much it would cost to use one to move our stuff. using the SMALLEST size they have and using them for storage for only one month... the estimated cost was almost $5k!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

YIKES!

i'm starting to think it will be easier and cheaper to sell EVERYTHING and just buy new stuff once we get there.

i will miss my sewing machine collection if i go with this option, though Chat Icon

Try callign moving companies that are one of the large coast to coast ones. They can many times move you and store the stuff on the other end for a period of time.

Pods are the most expensive way to go.

That cannot be right. We used them and it was less than $500 for 2 or 3 months.

used Go Mini's. I think they were less than PODS, but we used it for two months and it was only a few hundred dollars, not thousands. They'll give a quote online:

agree. My friends just moved from nj to Chicago. They got two pods, and didn't spend anything near that. Id call back to just double check that price.

That can't be right. We got quotes a month and a half ago. It was pricier than a storage unti but no where near that high.

Re: holy cannoli... PODS!

Were moving OOS and PODS were more expensive than moving companies. United gave us a quote of about $4300. If we bundle in our cars it would be cheaper too.

Our friends just moved from LI to San Fran & they were quoted an obscene amount from PODS too. They figure the price on mileage and weight. That's why it was so much money because it was coast to coast.

Don't sell all your stuff when you don't have to!
