Re: Holy SWOLLEN!!!

I started to swell around 28 weeks. You can lie with your feet up and reduce your sodium intake. Drink lots of water too!
I would let your doctor know tomorrow though, if it is really bad.

Yup started for me last week Chat Icon

I've been trying to keep them elevated whenever I can and keep on drinking water.

Re: Holy SWOLLEN!!!

I had that when I was pregnant with DS. Started around 27 weeks. By 33 weeks I had pregnancy induced hypertension and was on bedrest. They were concerned I was going to develop pre-eclempsia.

I wound up with a couple of hospital stints but went full term. Went into labor on my own and delivered DS at 38w6d, perfectly healthy.

Anyway, while swelling is typically very normal it is certainly not something to ignore. I would definitely start staying away from salty foods, increase water intake, lay on left side with feet elevated above heart, and let your OB know.

Re: Holy SWOLLEN!!!

I have also read that putting on compression socks or stockings BEFORE you get up in the morning can help a lot

also if you can go swimming that is supposed to be really good for swelling too. .

and totally agree with add water, cut out sodium and carbs if you can..

hope you feel better!!

also agree w/ call your doc to be safe!

I am 29+ weeks and this is starting to happen to me....Only in my feet, ankles and legs....My hands are completely fine. I find it happens most when I stand all day. Going to see my dr on Wednesday so we'll see what he says when I see him. Keep me posted as to what your dr says. I would definitely mention it to him/her when you go next time as you want to make sure it isn't something more serious as one of the pp stated.

Re: Holy SWOLLEN!!!

I've lucked out an managed to make it until 34 weeks w/o much swelling, but I've got it now too. I think the only thing that really helps, at least for me, is lots of water.

this happened with #1 for me (but not #2)

DH pats himself on the back all the time, b/c he would massage my feet every night to get the swelling to go down Chat Icon

almost wish i get it again!

I ended up on bedrest because I was so swollen and my blood pressure was very high. Had to stay off my feet and limit my sodium intake.
