Home Depot kitchens
I heard they charge $100 when you sit and design a kitchen with them. Is this so?

Re: Home Depot kitchens
I dont' remember having that, but I did my kitchen 2 years ago...if it is true, they may take the $100 off the price of the cabinet order once you place the order and pay. that's what they do with the measuring fee of $35.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
They do not charge anything to sit down with them. My husband and I did a consultation at Home Depot, Lowe's, and Consumers - all free. We wound up designing our own kitchen through Ikea and couldn't be happier.

Oh ok great. Someone had said they charge you $100 and if you go with them it's taken off the order.

that's probably the measuring fee. we had our kitchen measured when they were offering it for free and i'm glad i did it then.
they did my friend's kitchen and needless to say i will NOT be using them for my own after i saw her kitchen.
plus their designers aren't all designers. some were practically kids who couldn't use the system--i sat with one moron for almost 3 hours and she couldn't do anything with the program. they hire out their work to other companies. i was very disappointed in them.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
They charge you $100 to come and do a professional measuring and then if you order with them, they take it off the order. It's worth it to go in with your own rough measurements, see if you like the prices/quality of their cabinets and sit with someone to see if they have good ideas. Then you can have them come measure and sit down again and do the actual order.
ETA: It all comes down to the person helping you design...I had someone in the Copiague store who had great ideas. I didn't use them for the install but I did buy my cabinets there and am happy with the choices.
