Home Depot or Lowes?
I've been shopping at Home Depot for a while now and just recently switched to Lowes. Lowes appears to have more products, better customer service, more knowledgeable staff and more people working the floors. It’s also cleaner and has better stocked shelves.

I've been going to both in Farmingdale. I think Lowes does have a better selection.

Re: Home Depot or Lowes?
I personally like Lowes better. it's a much NICER store. doesn't feel so industrial like you're in some warehouse.

Re: Home Depot or Lowes?
I HATE home depot with all my heart It never fails. everytime I go there I leave frustrated and angry. The customer service is the worst and you can never find someone when you need them. when you do, their answer is "I don't work in this department" and they walk away without helping to find someone who does. The worst part is that there are no Lowes in Westchester so unless I want to pay an arm and a leg at a local hardware store with less selection, I have to go I do have to say that I LOVE The Design Center (Home Depot Expo).

I love Lowes--not wild about HOme Depot at all. Lowes is 1000 x better for plants, which is one thing I buy there regularly.

Is this a new Lowes in Farmingdale? I love Lowes, but hate going to the Garden city area.

Re: Home Depot or Lowes?
I happen to be a big Lowe's fan. Plus, they had a big Christmas section this year that I could spend a long time in while DH went shopping for the crap I am not interested in.

Re: Home Depot or Lowes?
My parents recently did a lot of work on their house in East Northport, and they started calling Home Depot "Crappy Depot." My dad had a huge temper tantrum in there one day... my mom, of course, could not stop laughing at him.

Re: Home Depot or Lowes?
i have a friend who is an engineer and he builds Lowes. And he has told me this:
Home Depot is geered towards the contractor where as Lowes is geered towards the homeowner/consumer.

Re: Home Depot or Lowes?
With the exception of the Home Depot on 23rd Street, every Home Depot I go to is dirty and disorganized. Lowes is always cleaner and more organized and has better customer service.

Re: Home Depot or Lowes?
We've only gone to HD (because I forgot all about Lowes) but I hate going there. Its always a mess and like someone else said no is helpful and you can never find someone in the department you're looking in.

I jsut found this out too. I dont usually do Lowes b/c I dont want to trek to Garden City. I might have to check this one out. I go to the HD in Copiague and the people are always very nice and helpful. It looks pretty clean and I know the layout so I basically know where to find stuff but I like to have choices so Im glad I have a Lowes closer to me now.
