Home from Egg Retrieval

Had the egg retrieval today. They got 20. The embryologist said 8 is average, so this was good, but it obvi all depends on quality, etc.

I am scheduled for a five day transfer on Sunday, assuming all looks good.

They said there is normally a lot of pain/discomfort if 15 eggs or more, but I have no pain or discomfort at all. I walked to Penn Station with no issue.

Tonight I start the progesterone in oil, scary!

Anyone know anything about IVF success rates with Dr. B?

Good luck!! His clinic is not listed on the SART website. So your best bet would be ask his office.

It is a form of prog, but the needle is ginormous (like the menopur needle before you change it out), and DH hash to but it in my butt, and then massage so it doesn't get irritated.

Oh wow. Hope you feel okay nd get through it. For IVF do they usually give you progesterone in oil as opposed to endometrin or crinone? Just trying to learn all this- IVF in August/September. Best of luck to you!

Can't speak to usual, this is my first time. I think the answer is it depends. They originally said at beginning of cycle they may use it, and now they are, but it was not a definite thing.

The needle is huge and scary looking, but did not hurt at all going in. Lovenox needle hurts me way more, and for whatever reason seems extra blunt lately. Two hours later, my butt is pretty sore. They say that is from the oil, not the needle.

Wow PIO and endometrin....thats a lot. Why is PIO prescribed if you are on endmetrin 3 x a day? Just trying to figure all this out since I have my IVF consult on Thursday. Thanks

Home from Egg Retrieval

Glad to hear you are feeling well after your ER. I hope your fertilization report is good!

As for PIO, not everyone uses it for IVF cycles. For my first two cycles (with a different clinic), I used crinone. For my upcoming cycle, I will be using PIO. I am SO nervous about it!
