home improvement question
i'm sitting here, watching "my house is worth what?" on hgtv.
it got me to thinking. i'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
if you want to make improvements/upgrades to your house that would increase the resale value of your home (without pricing yourself out of the market), who should you talk to BEFORE you get started?
do you contact an appraiser or a rea?

Re: home improvement question
We had a real estate agent come for free and tell us what needed to be done.

Re: home improvement question
we just did this in the fall... we had a real estate agent come and just look at the house and tell us certain things that we should do to make it easier to sell... we didnt have to pay her, she did it for free. then she came back a few days later and gave us an estimate of what our house would be worth based on the market area...

Re: home improvement question
The home improvements that add the most value are --kitchen & bathrooms --siding--you usually get back everything you put into it --windows if they need to be replaced --I also think that hardwood floors are very "in" right now and would add value.
