HOME PROJECT - has anyone done something like this...

We are currently looking at capes and wondering if anyone has gone from pic A to B, and can give me a rough idea of cost...any details would help
TIA!
(I found these pics on MLSLI to demonstrate the kind of expansion we'd like to do down the road, WAY DOWN THE ROAD). I basically just want to know if SOMEDAY we can make a small cape into something more and what it would take.

Someone I know did a roof blowup and the roof was not as "complicated".

It was about $100000 several years ago.

You also have to check if the house's foundation can support the additional weight.

Thanks - would the house be more like to support the weight if it's on a slab? I'm not quite sure what I'm talking about, but trying to use some real estate lingo Chat Icon

A structure engineer is the only one that can tell you if a particular house is a candidate for it.

That's a massive undertaking.

I would say to do a transformation like that should probably cost you $200k plus. There is one that is being done right now around the corner from me. Drive around levittown and you will see a lot of huge blown up houses that used to be levitt capes...

One of my friends lives in Levittown and is doing something similar and she's paying around 150k.
