Homebuyer tax credit question
Does anyone know how the tax credit would work for 2 single people, not married yet, who are looking to buy a home together? Both of the names would be on the mortgage. Would each person receive half of the credit on their taxes? TIA

We did this last year and what we decided to do was have one of us claim the tax credit and the other one claim the house.
Your accountant will tell you which way will benefit you the most.
