hospital bag question about PJ/Sweatpants/undergarments

I am in the midst of getting my hospital bag ready and was wondering what types of "PJ" pants you are planning on wearing in the hospital. I think I am having a cesarean and plan on being in the hospital for atleast 3 days. I didn't know what kind of pants to pack (pj pants, sweats, etc.) and was trying to see what you ladies were planning on packing.

I saw these on the Victorias Secret website and they look comfy yet still lose-fitting.

Also, I've been reading that you bleed a lot and should pack some 'granny' undies. Do they really 'have' to be huge, ugly looking undies? What's everyone packing for underwear?Chat Icon

Those pants looks comfy. You might wanna order dark colors bc of the bleeding.

i wore the gown the first 2 nights with no underwear, just a ton of pads under me. I couldnt get up anyway and i was on so much medication after the c section that I could care less what I was wearing. Thats how the nurses left me, so thats how I stayed!

Once I was back to normal, I am glad I had high rise undies bc my bikini's would have hit right where the incision is and irritated it.

I bought a nightgown the other day with a robe because I heard about the checking in thing.

I agree about the dark colors though due to bleeding.

they don't have to be ugly granny panties but def get something that you won't mind tossing a few in the trash after!
As far as pjs, i wore a dark colored night gown. Everyone is going to be checking you all day and night and it will just be easier for everyone.

I had a c-section and those pants look perfect. They do come in to check you a lot but you can easily just push down the pants. They never irritated by incision. As for the bleeding, it wasn't too bad. Just like a very heavy period so I wouldn't worry too much about that either.

Thank you! So I will get 'throw-away' undies.Chat Icon
I know they come in to check on you but I didn't think it was to check anything except the incision. Can't I just pull the pants down a bit rather than lift a while nightgown?

As far as I remember they only checked the incision so I'm with you and prefer to pull down the pants a little rather then pull up a nightgown.

I wore sweats or pj pants the whole time I was there (except the first night right after the section). When someone came to check the incision (which wasn't really all that often), I just pulled the pants down a little. You do want the granny panties because the lower cut ones will hit right on your incision and will hurt. For me the bleeding wasn't bad at all. I bought these giant maxi pads with me and could have used my regular ones after the first day.

I'm just packing my hospital bag now and I just plan on throwing in my old loose sweats and lounge wear pants. I'm tempted to buy new stuff but honestly, if I'm going bleed at all I don't want to bother.

I'm definitely not a nightgown person, so I'll make sure I pack loose fitting pants.

I got two pairs of pants in that material, capri from Target. I figure they were a bit cheaper in case they wind up getting stained and gross.

I think most of my pants are form-fitting so I wanted to purchase some looser-fitting pants.

Well I wore gown with DD b.c pants were too uncomfortable - but it really depends on the individual when you have a csection. Whatever you do get make sure it is loose and that they ride high up since your incision will be low so don't get anything low rise.

They will be pulling down your pants a lot to look at your incision. As far as underwear - you do NOT want to wear good ones - you will bleed a lot and they might get ruined. I brought some but wore the mesh ones they gave me instead and was glad I did b.c they got ruined.
