Hospital tour tonight & now I'm scared
Now it seems more real, and now I'm scared about the whole epidural...I don't know why I didn't think much of it before....I didn't think much about why people were against it etc, but now it seems so much more invasive and worrisome than I thought
And I don't have a scheduled c-section, but of course if something happens, I'm worried about that...
and I'm not scared thinking about the pain, but it sounds like its going to be pretty bad
I wasn't thinking about me physically, just baby....but now that I am, I'm stressed

Re: Hospital tour tonight & now I'm scared
I just had my 2nd baby 2 weeks ago. I was terrified with DS (pregnancy #1). I had an epidural and from my experience, honestly, it wasn't too bad at all. Had my DD 2 weeks ago and again, not too bad. Its a pinch, a burn and then you feel some numbness. I had c sections with both. I had my follow up tonight and I'm "Healing Great" according to the dr. You'll be OK

Don't worry it is less intimidating when you go to deliver. I definately felt the same way as you after the tour - it made it very real.

I'm afraid fo it too!! My attitude is go in there open to everything when needed. I would like to be drug free... but if the dr or nurses really feel like I need it.. then I will listen to them as they are the professionals.... Hang in there think positive,, as ur little one is coming soon!!!

Re: Hospital tour tonight & now I'm scared
I was terrified too and said i would really try to stay drug free, i really thought i could do it but i had my baby last week and i had to be put on pitocin when the contractions got to 3 minutes apart and were getting reallyyy strong i gave in and sohappy i did. i completely forgot about my fear of the epidural! just go with an open mind and you'll do just fine and the epidural itself really isnt as bad as it sounds!

Re: Hospital tour tonight & now I'm scared
I didn't find the epidural invasive at all. I was scared of the needle in the back, but the actual epidural was fine for me.
I remember being scared too-you'll get through it. And, if you decide to have more children, you won't be as scared for your next after you get through this

Re: Hospital tour tonight & now I'm scared
The hospital tour was great when they showed you the nursery with the cute little babies!
- i just delivered my first one a month ago... i was freaked out thinking the pain would be horrible.... but seriously when that baby is born the memories of the pain get overtaken by the joy of the baby... I did get an epi- it wasnt so bad- they have you turn sideways so your legs are off the bed. you lean forward and they have you be still while they are doing it.. the nurse is in front of you to help while the person does it, and the relief it gives you is AMAZING. i was able to take a nap after it to rest up for delivery. and they give you a button to press to have more released...
- just when they are going to do it- dont look at the needle before they start... I told them i didnt want to see it...

Re: Hospital tour tonight & now I'm scared
Thanks ladies
It means more hearing it from you, especially those of you BTDT
as opposed to my husband who's like, "You'll be fine babe" and then I want to punch him because he doesn't have to deal with anything except me
