Hosting (Entertaining)

Do you entertain a lot? Host little impromptu get togethers or events such as Super Bowl?

Would you entertain more if your SO was more into it?

Or is it reverse - your SO is more into entertaining where you would rather be the guest?

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

I love entertaining and so does DH.. HE loves having people over and making sure they have a good time. I like to cook and make good food so it is a win/win for us haha

Now, I wish our house was a little bigger to fit more guests!

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

we would like to entertain more, but we worry so much whether people are having a good time or not that it makes it more stressful than fun for us. That's why we usually put it off. We are slowly trying to get over that. we had a catered dinner party last saturday, everyone had a great time and didn't leave until 3 am. It's def. something you have to get used to. once it gets a little warmer we are going to try to have more BBQ's and get togethers.

Out of all our family members, our house is just better suited for entertaining. (our dining room is the largest, we have the longest/biggest driveway for parking, and we have the largest backyard...it just needs a pool. Chat Icon ) And as we remodel, we keep that in mind. It's important that our home has a flow that is conducive to entertaining. I can't wait to extend and remodel our kitchen! Chat Icon

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

I'd like to entertain but my DH is so apprehensive about it. He's kind of like you veeandrich, where he worries about whether people are enjoying themselves (themself?) and the stress makes him never want to do it.

I mentioned inviting people over for a Valentine's cocktail party and I thought I saw him turn white Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

We don't ever entertain because our apt is not big enough. We would love to though, and thats one of the reasons we are excited about getting a house.

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

I LOVE to entertain and out place is certainly big enough for it, but we are the only couple out of all our freinds who don't have children, so we usually nd up going over to their places because it's more convenient for them.

I love hosting dinner parties and stuff though.(although now it's more for family and not friends)

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

I wish we could entertain more.

I would love to just be able to have people over for awards shows or sporting events or dinners.

But when we do entertain, it's an overnight affair because most of our friends live a couple hours away.

Plus our house is tiny, so it's not very conducive to big parties.

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

I would say we entertain around once every month or two.... I'm happy with how much we do, maybe I'd like to do a little more....the get togethers are never very impromptu...more planned usually

I love to host/entertain and wish we would do it more. But until DH gets off his *** and lets me hire someone to finsih the construction work he started, our house is just too small for any type of large gathering.

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

We have a small condo, so we don't have much room to entertain. Growing up my parents had tons of parties and it was always fun...I just definitely want more room. And the money to have everything catered like my parents did. Chat Icon

ETA: The one time we did entertain a large group, a few of DH's friends got out of control, a dining room chair was broken, and my bathroom was covered in puke. I think we'll wait til they grow up before hosting them again.

I would love to entertain more, and we now have the room for it - so once we're all done renovating, hopefully we'll be able to do more of it!

I'd love to entertain more, as would DH, but we don't live that close to our families or friends and we haven't really made any friends up here yet. The few times our friends/families have made the trip up, we've both really enjoyed hosting.

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

We like hosting casual get togethers and parties...superbowl, new years, halloween. Nothing that requires me cooking anything more than hors doeuvres.

ETA: we have a one bedroom apt., so space is limited, but we've had up to about 20 people here at one time.

Re: Hosting (Entertaining)

We entertain a lot during the warmer months outdoors (BBQs) but not so much in the winter. Well, we do entertain in the winter but it is not many people at once due to lack of space. But now that we have finished our basement we are ready to do more entertaining indoorsChat Icon We are having a superbowl party this year!

We entertain a lot....like every other week. Both of us like to have our friends around - and we're the typical hosts among all our friends.
