Re: hot appetizers
I always have this when we are having company.
Baked Mozzarella Bites
1 pkg. (8 oz.) KRAFT Low-Moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese
60 RITZ Reduced Fat Crackers
1 cup spaghetti sauce, heated
PREHEAT oven to 325°F. Cut cheese crosswise into 15 slices; cut each slice crosswise in half.
TOP each of 30 crackers with 1 cheese slice; cover with remaining crackers. Place in 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
BAKE 8 min. or until cheese begins to melt. Serve with the spaghetti sauce.
Baked Pesto and Sun Dried Tomato Appetizer.
1 can (8 oz.) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese
2 tsp. pesto
2 tsp. finely chopped drained oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes
PREHEAT oven to 400°F. Unroll crescent dough; separate into four rectangles. Place two of the rectangles, side-by-side, on nonstick baking sheet. Firmly press seams and perforations together to seal. Reserve remaining dough for decorative garnish.
CUT block of cream cheese horizontally in half. Spread pesto onto bottom half of cream cheese; cover with tomatoes. Top with remaining cream cheese to form sandwich. Place in center of dough. Bring up ends of dough around all sides of cream cheese to enclose completely; pinch ends of dough together to seal. Place, seam-side down, on baking sheet. Cut remaining crescent dough into small fun shapes, such as leaves or fruit. Arrange on top of dough.
BAKE 20 min. Serve warm with assorted NABISCO Crackers and fresh vegetables.
Stove Top Skillet Fritters
1-1/2 cups STOVE TOP Cornbread Stuffing Mix in the Canister
1/2 cup flour
1 can (8 oz.) cream-style corn
1 can (4 oz.) chopped green chilies, undrained
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 Tbsp. oil
MIX all ingedients except oil until well blended. Let stand about 3 minutes.
HEAT oil in large nonstick skillet on medium heat 2 minutes.
DROP tablespoonfuls of batter into skillet. Cook 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown on both sides.

Re: hot appetizers
I love these stuffed mushrooms
3 Italian hot sausages, casings removed 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (about 3 ounces) 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, room temperature 1 large egg yolk
Olive oil 24 large (about 2-inch-diameter) mushrooms, stemmed 1/3 cup dry white wine
Sauté sausage and oregano in heavy large skillet over medium-high heat until sausage is cooked through and brown, breaking into small pieces with back of fork, about 7 minutes. Using slotted spoon, transfer sausage mixture to large bowl and cool. Mix in 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder, then cream cheese. Season filling with salt and pepper; mix in egg yolk.
Brush 15x10x2-inch glass baking dish with olive oil to coat. Brush cavity of each mushroom cap with white wine; fill with scant 1 tablespoon filling and sprinkle with some of remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese. Arrange mushrooms, filling side up, in prepared dish. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill.)
Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake uncovered until mushrooms are tender and filling is brown on top, about 25 minutes.
Makes 24.
I also love this tart, I use a purchased pie crust instead of making my own and it works just as good
Onion, Cheese and Bacon Tart
Crust 1 cup unbleached all purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes 2 tablespoons chilled solid vegetable shortening, cut into 1/2-inch cubes 2 tablespoons (or more) ice water Filling 3 thick-cut bacon slices, chopped 1 large onion, thinly sliced Pinch of sugar 1 cup whipping cream 1 large egg 1 large egg yolk 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper Generous pinch of salt Generous pinch of ground nutmeg 1/2 cup (packed) coarsely grated Gruyère cheese
For crust: Blend flour and salt in processor. Add butter and shortening; using on/off turns, cut in until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add 2 tablespoons ice water and process until moist clumps form, adding more ice water by teaspoonfuls if dough is dry. Gather dough into ball; flatten into disk. Wrap in plastic and chill at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll out dough on lightly floured work surface to 11-inch round. Transfer to 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom. Press dough onto bottom and up sides of pan. Pierce crust all over with fork. Freeze 10 minutes. Line crust with foil; fill with dried beans or pie weights. Bake crust 10 minutes. Remove foil and beans. Bake until crust is set and partially cooked through, about 15 minutes longer. Cool crust while making filling. Maintain oven temperature.
For filling: Sauté bacon in medium skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 4 minutes. Transfer bacon to paper towels to drain. Add onion and pinch of sugar to drippings in skillet and sauté until onion is deep golden brown, about 20 minutes. Whisk cream, egg, egg yolk, pepper, salt, and nutmeg in small bowl to blend. Spread onion over bottom of baked crust; sprinkle bacon over, then cheese. Pour cream mixture over.
Bake until tart is puffed and filling is set, about 25 minutes. Cool tart on rack 10 minutes. Remove
Mini crab cakes are also easy and yummy to make.

Re: hot appetizers
We make a really easy dip:
1 bar of cream cheese, softened
1 can of refried beans
1 package of shredded cheese
In a pie plate, spread cream cheese evenly, then top with refried beans and top that with shredded cheese
put in a 400 degree oven for about 10 minutes, or until it starts to bubble
serve with tortilla chips
YUMM

You can't go wrong with pigs in a blanket....
A vegetable platter is also good with a good veggine dip.
Cheese and crackers are also a good favorite.

Re: hot appetizers
MMMM appetizers, my favorite along w/ what has been mentioned:
baked clam dip mini pizzas (I make them on pitas and cut into tiny slices) spinach pie mini tacos or quesadillas
I have a friend who always makes baked brie. She spreads rasberry preserves/jelly on top then adds crushed walnuts and bakes. I'm allergic to nuts, but people rave about it.

Re: hot appetizers
my favorite is sweet and sour meatballs in a bread bowl...
take chopped meat or chopped turkey meat and put some onion and garlic powder in it... form into little balls
at the same time put 1 jar of chili sauce and equal amount of grape jelly in a pot and heat it until it is simmering... put in meat balls... let cook until done... then pour into breadbowl
the ingredients sound wierd, but it is sooo yummy!

Re: hot appetizers
I LOVE sweet and sour meatballs and people always ask me to make them for parties. My DH's friend actually just asked me to make him a giant batch for his birthday. I posted the recipe a few weeks ago-mine are a little different than the ones with grape jelly.
My other stand-by apps are -spinach dip -taco dip -scallops wrapped in bacon (from BJ's or costco and they are so good) -shrimp cocktail -melted brie in bread bowl -antipasto platter
