Hot Yoga? *UPDATED* I tried it...

Anyone ever try this? My sister is doing it because Birkam is doing a special: $20 for 20 CONSECUTIVE days.

90 mins in a 100 degree room everyday for 20 days straight doesnt seem like a good idea to me. She says she knows someone who lost 17 lbs in water weight but I dont even think thats healthy.

Thoughts anyone?

UPDATE 9/13-
While I was originally against this idea, my sister really talked me into it so I figured 1 class couldnt hurt. I went this morning. I have to admit, at first I hated it but once I got into it, I liked it and I will continue to go until my 20 sessions are up. I went to Bikram in RVC. I have the info if any one wants it.

Re: Hot Yoga?

Wow. I do not think it is healthy to do that 20 days in a row. I would only do it 1-2x a week max. Insane

Re: Hot Yoga?

I enjoy hot yoga, but 20 days in a row seems like a lot to me especially for someone who's not used to doing it.. it's a tough workout & unless you drink a lot I would think it's easy to become dehydrated by doing it that much since you sweat so much.

Re: Hot Yoga?

I love Bikram. I used to do it all the time when I live in NYC, but now I cannot find a studio near me. I had lost a lot of weight before I started doing it and it really kept it off. As soon as I stopped I gained 10lbs.

I went on a yoga trip and they had Bikram there that same week and I think I did it every day for 7 days. But, I was doing it once a week and Hatha yoga 2 times a week. I think to start up doing it 20 days is a little bit much on ones body. Just make sure she drinks a ton of water.

I tell you, I never felt so much clarity as I did after a class. And a natural high that nothing compares to.

They do it in Rockville Centre. Thats where she is going. The first class is tonight so I'll try to post her experience after she tells me.

There's also in Woodbury & Dix Hills
Yoga Oasis

DH & I did it once (at the Dix Hills location when they ran a $20 special) and it was too hot for us so we never went again.

Re: Hot Yoga?

I've done it a bunch of times when I lived in the city and absolutely loved it. I literally felt great for days afterwards. I think I want ot start going to the one in Woodbury.
