depends what part of it you want to get into - do you want to be FOH (front of house), in operations, guest services, meeting planning, etc....all variables to consider. check out hcareers.com

BIL runs the IT department for a large hotel. The hours are unpredictable, but the pay & benefits are fantastic.

I was in it for 10 years. I worked every weekend and you do make good money. There are slow times of the year when you can take vacations, but it can be pretty stressful. I left b/c I got sick of working on the weekends. It takes a toll on you.
ETA- I did FOH in restaurants.

Hah! I didn't even think about how this would probably require a lot of weekend work. Thanks for the heads up ladies. I am still trying to keep as many options open as possible. Again, it's not like I am going to quit my current job tommorrow, but being a barista at Starbucks looks so damn appealing after many a day in my office!!
