Use Marriot timeshare vs. Divi Hotel All Inclusive
my bf and i r looking to book a trip to aruba...a friend of ours offered to rent us their timeshare for 1K...then we would be paying for airfare and food/fun when we get there..
do u think we r better off doing that then going to an all inclusive resort like the divi resorts?
i m so confused!!!!

for 1k! that's nuts. Go to redweek.com or even on Craigslist if you want to do the timeshare route. If you want to do an all inclusive (which I think ROCKS), then look online using travel sites and the hotel directly. You can get it for alot less.

Re: Use Marriot timeshare vs. Divi Hotel All Inclusive
i don't know anything about timeshares but i did consider aruba for my HM and from what i recall, the divi wasn't such a great spot. occidental grand aruba renovated in '06 and i imagine its really nice now, though i don't know about prices. That's where we were looking. We thought it would be easiest to to AI and someone, can't remember who, maybe an agent, told us that we were nuts for doing AI on Aruba b/c the food is really good. again, i can't speak from experience b/c i've never been. but i thought i'd pass on what i've learned....
good luck!

Re: Use Marriot timeshare vs. Divi Hotel All Inclusive
We stayed at Divi last year. The rooms weren't great, but weren't horrible either. I found the food to be above average for an all-inclusive and with the alcohol it worked out for us. We still went out a few times but for the price, it was worth it to have breakfast, lunch and drinks over the cost of a non-all inclusive. The beach is really beautiful at Divi and you get use of Tamarjin restaurants and services also.
I know a lot of people say don't do all-inclusive in Aruba because of the great restaurants, but for me it was worth it. I would go to Divi again.

Aruba has a lot of great restaurants-- so, I think if you want to get anything included, it should be breakfast and maybe lunch.... I think you are better off without an all inclusive. I would look for other hotels though, cause I don't think $1K is a bargain, and you can stay other places with better locations. From what I remember, the marriot vacation club is like way far away from all the other hotels.

You did a great job with this description, all I can add is I too loved the beach at Divi, and we are considering going back to Divi for our one year anniversary!

I went to Aruba last year and loved it.
I would go with the non-all inclusive route though. There are so many great restaurants in Aruba.

for 1k! that's nuts.
That will cover the amount they paid in maintenance fees for the year (and maybe $150 extra).
