Hotel suggestions in Ocean City, MD

We are trying to plan a trip for early Juliy but have never been there before. We will be taking DD who is 6. We prefer to be near the beach, not the bay and I've heard not to stay directly near or on the boardwalk, don't know if this is true or not.

I've heard great things about the Hilton Inn and Suites. It's right on the beach, comes with a kitchenette and has a great pool for kids. I think your DD would love it.

I tried getting a room for Memorial weekend but they were sold out. :P

I personally only stay on the ocean and on the boardwalk. We have stayed at the Commander, Holiday Inn and Suites, and a bunch of others, but those are both very nice. We now rent, which is also an option. We used cbvacations.com in the past, but now rent privately in the same unit each year.
