Hourly fee for babysitter
Hi, i'm just trying to get the going rate for a babysitter.
A friend of mine will be watching a 3 yr old a couple of mornings a week. She's a SAHM and is wondering how much she should charge.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Hourly fee for babysitter
I asked this same question a couple months ago. Everyone told me between the $10-$13 range.

Re: Hourly fee for babysitter
Is it at her house or going to someones house?
I paid $7 to drop him off and now $10 for the sitter to come to me.

Re: Hourly fee for babysitter
Our sitter charges $12, but she has lots of experience with children, and she also only watches him for a few hours here and there. But the #10-15 is what I've heard depending on how many children, where they watch them, and the age of the children (DS is 10 months).

Re: Hourly fee for babysitter
Thank you
I thinks she was figuring between 8-10. Are the sitters that get paid 12-15 typically licensed? Just curious it seems high to me..but then again I don't have kids yet!

Re: Hourly fee for babysitter
Ours isn't licensed now, but she is an early education masters candidate, and she has worked at daycamps and daycares in the past. We also live in western Nassau, so everything is a little higher here I think.
We love her though, and I really trust her with our son, so paying the extra money is okay with us.

Re: Hourly fee for babysitter
I used to babysit from my home. I was paid $10/hr for an 18-month old. I think that's the average rate.

Re: Hourly fee for babysitter
I pay $20 an hour, but she also does the laundry and cleans up the house. She is also very good with Maddie. It's still quite expensive though.

I was thinking the same thing. $15-20 an hour is a lot!

Re: Hourly fee for babysitter
We found a woman in our neighborhood that watches him for a few hours here and there. She gets $10 per hour. We typically only use her for 2 or 3 hours at a time.
