House opinions please
My MIL's friend is selling this house so she wants us to buy it, it is a bit expensive but really really nice. I have no idea about the area since I have always been a south shore gal...Any opinions on Plainview. Here is the House

Beautiful house but in my opinion it is a bit overpriced.
And $15K taxes ?????
But if she likes it and can afford it - why not?!

It's a beautiful house in an excellent neighborhood. It's somewhat high and so are the taxes, but that's 1/2 acre in Plainview.
I would do some hard negotiating if you really like it.
Keep in mind that the taxes most likely will never go down.

the price seems reasonable for the area and the size of the property. I just wonder if you could hear the hum of the LIE and if that would annoy you? Something to check out.
I agree - the taxes are really high - it doesn't look like there are any additions - maybe check to see what the neighbors pay.

Washington Avenue is the very very nice part of Plainview ( all of Plainview is great). My closest friend lives off of Washington and it is beautiful over there...
The price for the house and taxes are pretty much right on target for that neighborhood.
The school district is fantastic..
If you have the funds, I would really condsider it..
That part of Plainview borders on Woodbury..
I take my son to the Plainview Park all the time, it is great ( right near there)
Fm email me with any question since I grew up in Plainview- Oldbethpage and live in Syosset. I know the area very very well...

nice but over priced and the taxes are high. Plainview is a nice area though.

I grew up right near Plainview. It's a nice town. Those taxes are high though. Wow!
JMO, but it might be a nice change for you to go to the north shore. I'm a north shore girl and moved to the south shore three years ago. I loved the change!
