Re: House Work
share house work???
i do the cleaning and cooking, he does the bills, outside work (lawn, etc.), and takes out the garbage. Im sure other ladies have a better schedule worked out, but if I waited for him to sweep or clean a toilet, id be waiting a looong time.

Re: House Work
There is no sharing of housework. My advice, hire a cleaning lady.

Re: House Work
He helps...mostly with dishes and vacuuming. I do the laundry and actually prefer it that way. Its not as bad as I thought.

Re: House Work
well, as far as a cleaning schedule... my biggest help is that i MAKE myself do something every day after work. one day i do the bathrooms, one day i dust, one day i vacuum/mop the floors... it STINKS doing it when your tired after work, but its MUCH better than spending all weekend in the house cleaning. and i find if you keep up with it day-to-day like that, its not as overwhelming. as far as sharing... LOL i have no advice! in our case, i'm a teacher so i get home about 1 1/2 hours before DH every day, so i just end up doing most of it because i have more time. plus, i'm picky about how it gets done- LOL (which is also why i could never have a cleaning lady-lol). DH does help out with some stuff though- he takes the trash out, does the laundry a lot, does all the outside stuff like raking and mowing. i think you just have to sit down and figure out what needs to be done and you'll come up with something that works for you guys...

Re: House Work
My hubby is very helpful in this department. He does the laundry, dishes, sweeps ( if asked) puts the cloths away, will straighten up the house.
I cook clean and watch him moew the lawn from the window.... in the airconditioning!!!

Re: House Work
DH and I share the outside house stuff. I do the planting and weeding. He does the lawn mowing and trimming.
Inside, DH does all the vacuuming and the cleaning of the bathrooms - plus he does the dishes.
I do the kitchen floors, laundry, and the cooking.
We're a good team and help each other out. He likes a compulsively clean home, so I let him do his thing.

Re: House Work
landscaper and cleaning lady to the rescue.
Dh does very little but when I beg him he will do stuff.
He is working more than me and the moment but I have my family situation to deal with.

Re: House Work
DH and I share pretty much all of the housework.
DH does basically all of the outside stuff. He mows the lawn, uses the blowers and edges and trims the bushes.
I do the laundry (because DH is not so good at folding laundry). We both do the dishes. I clean the floors.
Either DH or I clean the bathroom depending on who has time first.
DH vacuums and takes out the garbage.
We really do work as a team!

Re: House Work
we argued about it for 6 months until we got a schedule together.
i cook, he cleans. if he cooks, i clean
he does laundry- i fold it and he helps me put it away.
cleaning- he'll usually vaccuum.
i do the bathrooms - he'll clean the floors..
the yard work- we do jointly cause i love to do it. he does the mowing and i do the planting and weeding.
everything with us is a joint effort. we make everything team work.
good luck!

Re: House Work
He cleans the 2 bathrooms.
Then I have to re-clean them and take care of the rest of the house.
We are getting a cleaning lady soon. I have been holding out, but I get home too late during the week and I hate taking half a Saturday doing it!
Outside stuff - we have a landscaper.

Re: House Work
Honestly, house work is the only thing we ever fight about. DH and I both have 10-14 hour a day jobs, so I'd end up giving him dirty looks when I was cleaning on the weekends and felt like he wasn't doing enough.
Well, we finally hired a housekeeper a few weeks ago and it was really the smartest thing we've done in 2 years of marriage. Expensive, but totally worth it! Can I just tell you how great my Saturday was? I woke up and had no cleaning to do (since our housekeeper was here on Friday), so I just stayed in bed til noon reading a book!

Re: House Work
Him do housework, yeah and you saw the pigs flying over right??? I do it all, I break my week up, Monday Big clean, bath, beds dust the whole nine yards. Tuesdays I normally do laundry. Wednesday, Im food shopping. Thurs just touch up. Friday Do the bathroom again, Im a bit of a germ-a-phobe, so I clean, clean the bath a few times a week.
ETA: And I make dinner at least 5-6 nights a week, we may get takeout on a sunday. I do all the dishes and once again, he does none of it...He works thats "his share".

Re: House Work
DH will do anything I ask, but I have to ask. He would never just think to pick up a swiffer and dust the furniture.
I make him vacuum because I have a tendency to run over the cord
He will ususally do the laundry because he stays up later than me so he'll finish it up.
I cook, he cleans. That's the rule. The cook never cleans!
We only have a little basement apt so it only takes about 2 hours to fully clean it. I usually go to WW on Saturday morning and come home and clean while he is sleeping. He gets in the way otherwise. When he wakes up he has to vacuum to finish the look!!

Re: House Work
i do the bathroom and laundry.
he does the vacumming, washes the floors and dusts.
we split the dishes and kitchen cleaning (but he usually winds up doing the kitchen since i'm still working on the bathroom). it's a team effort though.
i don't really cook- we both randomly cook 2 or 3 times a week and the dishes sit until someone takes the initiative, hehe.
oh lord i can't wait to move and have a dishwasher!

Re: House Work
We do pretty much all our cleaning on the weekends because it works into our schedules better
I try to cook dinner every night but DH will clean up afterwards.
I will vacuum at least twice a week during the week. If there is a lot of laundry, I do find time to throw a load in while I cook dinner.
Saturday mornings I dust all the rooms in the house & clean the master bathroom & 1/2 bathroom downstairs. DH is in charge of his bathroom.
Then usually either Saturday or Sunday we take care of the outside. I do the lawn mowing & weeding. DH does the sweeping, weedwacking & any other clean up.
It works well for us.
