How are all the 9mth old babies doing???
Just wanted to see how all our Dec-January babies were doing.
DS turned 9 months last weekend and its like he had a spurt of milestones.
He started getting himself into a sitting position, crawling, standing by himself, crusing between toys, pulling himself up in his crib, trying to take steps on his own, and he got his 3rd tooth....Yes all in the last week.
He still really doesn't want to crawl...would rather walk holding our hands, but he can do it.
He is also now starting to reject baby food in favor of our table food, which is good and bad as I have a hard time judging how much he ate... He eats everythign we eat, loves all types of chicken, meatballs, pancakes, and rice. And he is sippy cup pro and he loves to feed himself.
I can't believe how fast they are growing up!!!!
What is everyone doing for the first birthdays?

Re: How are all the 9mth old babies doing???
My son has been crawling, sitting up on his own, pulling to a standing position and cruising on furniture for about a month now. He can also climb the stairs! He's 8.5 months now.
He isnt babbling all that much but he says da-da-da-da-da and some other jibberish. Occasionally I will hear a ma-ma-ma but it's only when he's upset. He also waved bye-bye once but i think it was a fluke.
He just started to hold his bottle but he can only get an ounce or two down and then he puts it down and won't finish it unless I hold it for him (lazy!!!).
The Doc told me I can start him on some new foods including yogurt, soft cheese, eggs and mushy table food that isn't too spicy or too salty. He's been eating puffs for about a month although he's only picked them up on his own and actually gotten them into his mouth a couple of times. He's doing okay with the sippy - he can hold it up and drink from it but i think he likes it more as a teether. Speaking of which - he has no teeth yet and nothing looks like it's about to break thru either!

Re: How are all the 9mth old babies doing???
Yeah a friend of mine said babies usually focus on either verbal or physical things first. My DS has been chatting for awhile, dada, baba, dodo, and he mimics sounds like on, bye, hi...but doenst know what they mean. But he was so content with just sitting and playing with his toys that he wasnt even attepting crawling and such.
DS started holding his bottle around 6 months but I didnt realize what a great skill it was until he was around 8 months. Now we got out and I just hand him a bottle and he drinks the whole thing, its amazing how much time it can free up if you need it. I still hold his bottle for at least 3 of his 5 feedings but if I had something to do its a great thing!

You are SO LUCKY!!! I asked my doc if this meant he would learn to fully hold the bottle and she said "probably not". I was so disappointed. I had such feeding issues with him in the beginning that it would have felt so good to just hand him the bottle and have him feed himself.

Re: How are all the 9mth old babies doing???
DD will be 9 months Oct. 2...she has been crawling for a month and a bit now she is cruising on the furniture shes been getting herself to sitting position for a bit now...she can stand unassisted for a few seconds at a time but it scares her so she sits down! shes not really saying anything she says wawawawa which we think means shes hungry and she says babababa...and mamama when shes upset and screaming her head off. We are still having food issues things are going right through her...carrots used to be fine they no longer are...the battle continues to find what dosent go right through her. shes also still spitting up but not nearly as much as 3 months ago. she has 4 teeth all the way in and 2 partially in now. we are hoping to move to a bigger house before her 1st bday and have immediate family over and maybe some friends the next day but we will see what happens!
ETA: shes been waving hi and bye for about a month now! its the cutest thing i love getting home and her waving hi to me! she can also hold her own bottle and drinks from her sippy but needs a bit of help sometimes.

Re: How are all the 9mth old babies doing???
My ds will also be 9 months on Oct. 2nd. He is still toothless but I am glad he is since he is still a little boobie monster. He is crawling and walks holding onto furniture or my hands. He sits up but doesn't get into a sitting position from crawling yet. He just says sounds. No actual words. The closest we got is mamama but it's for more milk not mommy. He eats our food and babyfood. But hates veggies. His fav is mac and cheese and chicken nuggets He still doesn't sleep through the night. We make it 2.5 hours on a good night 20 minutes on a bad. But at least he is out of our bed so that's an improvement. I started brainstorming ideas for his first birthday. We are either doing a puppy theme wit dog buscuits shaped cookies and a 1 shaped cake or a rubber ducky party with a 3d ducky cake and ducky cupcakes. Oh the decisions
