how can i educate myself on the different methods of discipline?

is there one go-to book that discusses discipline in general? i know i'm jumping the gun here, allison is only 6 months old, but i'd love to read up and be prepared....err as prepared as i can be, at least!

The one book that I can definitely say helped me was a book by Sal Severe titled "How to Behave so Your Kids Will Too"...it definitely offers up some very good insight into parenting.

And some word of advice from a BTDT mom....keep in mind that all children are different and what works for one child may not work for another..(example: time outs worked well with one of my twins but not the other..go figure )..So know when to move on if the form of discipline isnt working for your child.

Essentially what I have done is incorporated a little bit here from one method..a touch of another..etc...until I found something that worked for my family.

I can recommend a really good book called Positive Discipline by Dr. Jane Nelson. She has a few books that vary according to age but I love her methods and they've been working pretty successfully for us.
