How can I get a remote starter for my sister's car?
My sister has been AWESOME since we had our baby boy, and since she had a little one last year she's passed on a LOAD of baby paraphenalia, saving us a gazillion dollars.
So I'd like to do something nice for her and was thinking a remote starter would be cool, she lives in upper W'chester and it gets COOOOLD up there, plus it would be nice to bring her baby into a warm car!
Soooo how do I do this? Will her mechanic do it, or are there special stores you have to go to? Do I have to buy the hardware myself?
What are we looking at $-wise for h/ware and installation??
Any help appreciated!!!!

Call a store up there to price it out & give her a gift certificate...otherwise you'd have to borrow her car.
If she has a DH, maybe he can help surprise her by bringing it in.

I  my remote starter!
Car dealerships can install them. I had mine done at a place that sells starters, radios, tints, etc.. They have stores like these all over.
ETA: Mine was about $150 +/- (7 years ago)

ITA. There are some that you can buy in a Parts store and self-install, but if it is done incorrectly you can screw up the computer/alarm/battery/electric....
Nice idea for a gift! I love my remote start

Just as an FYI, many if not most car dealerships will outsource their alarm & electronics installers from local businesses (such as Moving On Sounds or Car Tunes or that sort of place). Call the dealership to find out.
I just had mine done for my old/new truck & it cost $225 with parts & installation. It is a remote start, alarm & passice entry system by Pursuit.

just make sure she doesn't have a manual transmission car - you can't do remote start in those

Central, Sight and sound in Farmingdale on Gazza BLVD. is awesome. The owner Rich, is an ex- boyfriend of mine. He does great work, his truck was featured in some car stereo magazine. He's putting in my remote start and tinting my two front windows at the end of November. Tell him Nicole Gabriel sent you if you decide to go with him.
