Roman's new thing is smiling REALLY hard in pics and it drives me crazy. His eyes end up looking like little slits and he gets this god aweful goofy face. How can I train my kid to smile? Or can I? <--------- like that

do you tell him to say "cheese"? When I used to work in the portrait studio, I NEVER told them to say cheese because I would always get a cheesey smile.

I tell him to smile "nicely."

Try saying something funny to make him laugh, then you will get a natural smile - like tell him to say "boogers" or something else silly

the lady in the portrait studio always tells DD to say "stinky feet" - sounds funny but it always seems to get the right smile.

Eh, I couldn't make him smile either. Maybe bring Theresa over?
I always found the best way to make kids smile is to make them laugh. Depending on the age, it could go from peek-a-boo to fart jokes. For photos you can't get that spontaneous smile, I think the word "Daddy" works far better than "cheese".
Maddie learned from America's Next Top Model but I'm not sure you want him to learn from that one.
