Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
I had such a great easy pregnancy. I was telling a friend who also had twins (you might know her, Roxanna) and she said everything started going downhill for her at 34 weeks.
Wouldn't you guess.... same happened to me. She jinxed me!
I started having contractions, regular and painful, at 34 weeks. One day about 34.5 weeks they went to 3 minutes apart. I had a shot to stop the contrax, which worked temporarily. I had contrax on and off all day every day, almost going to L&D EVERY DAY. I tried to stay off my feet as much as possible, drink as much water as possile, had to have babysitters come over and help woth landon, etc. Around 35.5 weeks started developing signs of preeclampsia. Was back and forth to the midwives constantly to be monitored. They wanted me to make it as close to 37 weeks as possible. By 36w6d was full blown preeclampsia, delivered by c-section later that day.
My scheduled c-section was for 38 weeks, so it was only 8 days before that. Not too bad!

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
I had a terrific pregnancy, really textbook on how to have a healthy pregnancy. I had a doctor appointment early on Thursday morning and the Dr said that BabyB was slowly losing fluid- however nothing to worry about and in his opinion he said "anyday now" for the delivery. Later that afternoon while watching Oprah, I felt very damp. However I didn't feel any cramps/contractions,etc. I live with my mom and I mentioned to my mom about the dampness and she said call the doctor immediatley. The doctor advised me to come into LIJ and she'll be able to see if my water broke. I was very relaxed with the whole thing.
Yep, it did!!At this point its about 8pm and still no contractions or any other symptom. My DH was on his way from work. I got admitted and started to become diated and when I was about 3cm- at about 9am Friday morning I got my epidural. The contrcations were very slow. The doctor asked if I wanted to speed it up and I said no. Around 1pm I started pushing and I was wheeled into the OR, and baby Grace came out at 2:10 weighing 6lbs 8ozs and one and half hour later baby Lauren came out at 3:39pm weighing 5lbs 1oz. At no time were the babies in distress or no high BP. It was just lots of pushing!!: The OR was packed with lots of nurses and doctors cheering me on, it was an amazing event in my life. My babies never gave me problems while I was pregnant or during the L&D, or even now 7 months later!! I delivered at 37 weeks and 2days. My recovery wasn't too bad I was discharged on Sunday with the girls. Having twins is great, its non stop but really special. It took me a while to get adjusted, go easy on yourself and give yourself time in the beginning, I started to feel like myself around 5/6 months later. I moved in with my mom so I always have an extra set of hands. We're moving out into our new home next month so we'll be on our own, so to speak.
I wish you tons of luck and feel free to fm.

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
II had an absolutely horrible pregnancy. My twins were mono/mono twins which means they shared the same amniotic sac. For those of you that dont know, there is only a 50% chance of survivial which is due to cord entaglement. Needless to say the moment I found that out (12 weeks) I wasnt able to enjoy one second of it.
Anyway, the boys cords were tangled by 14 weeks, my cervix shortened at 16 weeks, I was admitted to the hospital at 24 weeks and stayed there for 2 months on strict bedrest!
I was all set for my scheduled C-section at 32 weeks (which is standard for mono/mono twins) and I winded up going into labor at 31 weeks 6 days! I didnt even know I was in labor...just thought it was braxton hicks. My OB came busting in my hospital room and told me that my contractions were two minutes apart and they were rushing up for an emergency c-section. Definitley an experience I will never ever forget!

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
My doctors didn't want me to go past 38wks, so I had a scheduled c-section (b/c DD was breech). When I went in, they did a sono and saw that she flipped head down (she didn't end up staying that way and I had a breech extraction, but that's another story!). So, they started a pitocin drip and I delivered after about 12hrs of labor, including 3hrs of pushing. Fun times!

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
had increasing BP toward end of pregnancy. went to OB for my weekly check up, BP was so high he told me to go to hospital, he induced me a few hours later. started to go into labor next day. was in labor for about 3 hours painful contractions for about an hour before the girls decided it was time to come out. overall i guess it was a good experience, thought it would be a lot more painful to push out 2 babies. but i felt pretty good afterward. HTH. i was exactly 36 weeks.

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
I was doing great until 34 weeks. Sure, my commute was horrible but I had no complications at all. Then the fluid around Baby A (now known as Georgie!) started to dwindle. I had to go for monitoring 2x a week on Mondays and Thursdays. I'd go on Monday, they'd say...."Okay, we'll give you a few more days." I'd go on Thursday and they'd say, "We'll give you the weekend." I was having some contractions for a few weeks, but nothing major. Finally on Monday, May 24, they said, "Okay, you're not going home. We're going to deliver you right now." I was admitted and they were prepping me for a C/S. I told them I ate breakfast so they made me wait until the following morning. I delivered exactly at 36 weeks.

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
I had a very smooth twin pregnancy. Baby A was head down and Baby B was transverse. My dr scheduled me for a c-section at 38wk3d. I had no contractions, no braxton hicks, nada.

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
I had issues with my cervix early on. I had a cerclage and that wound up holding up nicely. The drs were sure that was going to be what made me deliver early but they were wrong. From about 24 weeks on I started having major swelling. The drs watched me closely for preeclampsia. At 33 weeks 5 days I went to the dr and my bp was really high. He sent me home knowing I had a high risk appt in the am. He knew he was going to deliver me the next day but didn't tell me. My high risk dr called me in early to check the babies. All looked good with them and that is when they told me I would deliver that day. I was 33 weeks 6 days. I had a c section and had to go under general anesthesia because I had taken my lovenox injection that am.

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
all was fine except for weird NST tests on Baby A...they considered delivering me early. I was set to have a special test done , but went into labor that night....No previous signs AT ALL. I was 34.4 weeks. I had a Dr's appointment that night and he saw the contractions and sent me to the hospital....

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
I had a perfect pregnancy up until 34 weeks. I developed cholestastis, so they moved my scheduled C up from 38 to 37 weeks (Baby A was breech).
I went in for an amnio at exactly 36 weeks to see if their lungs were developed enough to push the section up to 36.5 weeks due to the cholestasis and the fact that my BP was a little high. After the amnio they took my BP which was elevated, plus my liver enzymes were up as well. They diagnosed me with HELLP syndrome and I delivered that night.
I also had low platelets so I couldn't get a spinal - I had to go under general anesthesia .

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
I started devloping signs of preeclampsia around 32 weeks and it slowly got worse. I delivered via emergency c section at 35.5 weeks. My boys were in the NICU for 7 and 9 days and are perfectly healthy now

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
I had a wonderful pregnancy. Nothing eventful at all. I went for a normal check up at 37 weeks and I complained of swollen feet So since my BP was a little high at the time they decided to deliver me that day and I was MORE than happy!

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
My pregnancy was awful! I was on bedrest at 22 weeks, due to my job, and getting sharp pains in my stomach due to moving my classroom. Then my cervix started to decrease. Next, I developed a rash on my hands, feet, and stomach. I developed GD (couldn't eat any sweets). I was on bedrest for 12 weeks. I went to a dr. Appointment and baby B(carsyn) and baby a (aubrey)'s growth was getting too far apart. They told me to go to the hospital and they would be taking the girls the next day when they had appropriate amount of staff. (2 drs and many many nurses). The girls came by c-section. I remember it clearly because there was a big Jets game on that night and my hubby was preoccupied at first. haha. Aubrey came out 4-6 and needed oxygen. Carsyn was 3-7 and was breathing on her own.
I am so jealous of all you ladies that had such wonderful pregnancies. I really want to have another baby just to experience a normal vaginal delivery. I feel like I missed out

Re: how did delivering the twins start for you?
I had a really smooth pregnancy until just over 35 weeks. I made it through the semester, exam week, and two days after I emailed my grades, baby A shifted and I got sciaatica sp? It was awful. I had been on modified bedrest for a lot of my pregnancy (had to teach sitting down, restricted movement) but the back pain of the last 2 weeks was like nothing I had experienced. Made it to 37 weeks and started to get contractions. Nothing regular, so I went walking w dh and dd to get things moving. All of our neighbors came out to see how I was and to wish us luck. Walked up and down the block a few times and then went to bed. Next morning, at 37 wks 2 days, got regular contractions. Was supposed to have a c dection at 38 wks, but went a few days early. Surgery was fine. Blood pressure went dangerously low, so even though my doc said surgey would last an hour, once they began they had them out in 10 min. Girls were perfect and I had a really quick and easy recovery.
