How did the question about my baby's fever became an argument between moms?
I was obviously upset with his fever and I came here looking for advice. Suddenly my post became an argument between other moms. Of course, this upset me more to see such an innocent question become a throwdown. Maybe I'm reading the tones all wrong, but I hope today is a better day for everybody!!!!!

Aw Kelly- don't feel bad. I think the problem is that we all tend to "get our back up" when we feel someone is questioning our ability as a mom.
The internet sucks in that "tone" is easily misinterpreted.
I have to thank you though- as I was always under the impression that Motrin was absolutely fine to give. With another one on the way, I have a new question to ask my PED at Madelyn's 12 month appointment.
Hope Baby Bronto is feeling better today!

I missed your post yesterday, but I am interested about the motrin. I do not really like to give motrin, because I heard that it can do something to the stomach---but I am not sure...I am going to try to find your other post..
I hope your son is feeling better

I don't think it was an argument. I think it was a miscommunication. You can't interpret what a poster means.
Babies respond to medications differently. What one thinks works for one doesn't always work for another. I know Benedryl makes some kids drowsy but makes my mellow daughter hyper as ever.
That said, I agree that 103 for an infant isn't high, but still scary. Last year Joseph had 103 on & off for 3 days & I called the pediatrician because even though he said 103 is a normal high, and I know it, it was scaring me.
I also try not to give Motrin or Tylenol unless they are super cranky. I think of it like fevers are a body's reaction to an infection. The body is trying to kill the infection by raising the temperature. Immature immune systems overreact to things...as our bodies work more efficiently we don't get high fevers like that. Could be complete BS but that was my way of thinking about it.
Hope your boy is feeling better.

Kelly I missed your post yesterday but went back and read it after reading this. I don't think it was an argument per se, it just seems like everyone has their own way of doing things. As with everything else, each ped has their own recommendation that each mom follows. I didn't even chime in with what my ped told me just this past Wednesday about fevers and giving tylenol and/or motrin. That would have just made everyone's head spin.
