how did you feel when you first came down with the flu?
i got the vaccine in October and I am not sure if I am coming down with it. I have body aches that motrin really isnt helping and a sore throat...but thats it. Alittle post nasal drip but nothing else. I dont know if I should go to the doctor or not.

I would go to the Dr. Body Aches would be my first sign that i need to go. If it is the flu, they can test you and then put you on Tamiflu. They say you should start it within 48 hours of any symptoms to be effective.
ETA: Feel Better!!!

Body aches and high fever (103.5!) and a few days later I came down with extremely sore throat and lost my voice. If you have body aches and high fever, go to the doctor asap! Temiflu saved my life.

Re: how did you feel when you first came down with the flu?
Go, go, go.
I've been home sick since Monday. I felt really tired and run down on Sunday. I've had a lingering cold since November, yeah November (drip, cough)... nothing is working.
I was very tired on Monday morning, dragged myself into school and by 3rd period (9am) was feeling out of it enough that if I stayed any longer I would have been afraid to drive home.
Unfortunately, by the time I could get a doc appt I no longer qualified for Tami-flu, it was late Monday, 48 hours after the onset of symptoms.
This couldn't come at a worst time. Midterms are next week and I missed 4 days of review with my students. Their grades will count toward my end of the year evaluation, so yeah, after 20 years of teaching my evaluation is now impacted by the Flu. I HAVE to go in tomorrow, no matter how I feel

Re: how did you feel when you first came down with the flu?
When I had the flu several years ago I actually thought I had a pinched nerve because everytime I stepped I got a sharp pain all through my back. I was also fighting allergies, or what I thought was allergies at that time.
When I went to the doctor and he said, "rule of thumb, if you feel like you've been hit by a bus then it's the flu."
Feel better.

Yes!! When they say it comes on fast, like a ton of bricks, they don't lie. The flu doesn't creep in with little symptoms. It knocks you flat on your back with fever, chills, aches, dizziness.
And if you get those symptoms, I will echo the sentiment to call the doc ASAP and tell them you want Tamiflu, you think you have the flu. Tamiflu is a godsend.
Good luck! Feel well!

Re: how did you feel when you first came down with the flu?
We just got back from the dr and my Dh has the flu. Yesterday it started with body aches, chills and a fever. The dr gave home tamiflu. Go to the dr bc the tamiflu only helps if you start it right when symptoms start. Feel better!!!

I'm just curious because I hate taking drugs- did anyone have any side effects from Tamiflu? I feel like I'd be too scared to take it.

I took it and had no side effects. I was feeling better in about 12 hours.

Re: how did you feel when you first came down with the flu?
I had a sore throat for 2-3 days, then a stuffy nose and really tired. I took Advil and felt better and today better still. So I am assuming I just have a cold.

Sore throat on a friday night. Sat was achy all day . Sunday it hit me like a ton of bricks.
I hate taking medications too. I did not have any side effects from tamiflu.

Re: how did you feel when you first came down with the flu?
The body aches have gotten better and it is all in my sinuses. I have head pain now and few aches. Dr gave me some antibiotics so i hope it helps fast. My two kids are on antibiotics for the 4th time each! This has been an absolute HORRIBLE few months
