How did you find your baby-sitter?

My parents always watch DS for us but they live about 40 min. away from us in Suffolk and I feel bad always asking them to come back and forth to watch DS all the time. I was hoping to find a baby-sitter so that if DH and I wanted to go to the movies or get out for just a couple of hours I dont have to always ask my parents although I know they dont mind.

I'm really not sure how to find someone. How did everyone else find a baby-sitter? I live in Merrick so if anyone knows someone in the area, that would be helpful as well.

We recently started using our neighbors daughter.

But before we found her, we asked around to family members, close friends of family members, etc. We were able to find sitters that way too, but you always end up losing them for one reason or another. So I always have an eye out for possible sitters.
