How did you know when dc was ready to drop a nap?

Ds is 5 1/2 months old and i'm just curious when i'll know when he's ready to drop a nap. Right now, when he gets tired... he starts grunting. He can really only stay awake an hour and a half max in between naps.

How did you know?

I started noticing that he would stay awake longer in between feedings. He sort of naturally moved to 2 decent length naps at around that age and sometimes would take a short cat nap around 5 pm. Eventually, I just stopped trying to get him to nap for that catnap and he was OK.

Bella didn't drop a nap til she was over a year.

We were on a pretty consistent 2 nap schedule from about 3 or 4 months until then.

ETA - The only way I knew she was ready to drop that 1st nap was when I put her down for it, she'd just play in her crib and not fall asleep or would only take a short one....eventually I just helped her drop it.

Gotcha. That makes sense. Chat Icon

Yeah no i'm just curious. Jacen takes about 4- 1 hour naps a day, plus a short 30 min nap around 5pm.

so i'm wondering when he'll drop one and when they'll lengthen.
