Re: how did you know you were ready to start ttc
i think you'll always be a little scared before. it does change your life. for me, i always knew i wanted a family someday and now that i'm 35, happily married, i don't see a reason to wait. my clock is ticking. Ideally, we'd prefer to buy a house first but with this crazy market, i'm not willing to postpone starting a family for that. I guess that's how i know i'm ready. I'm still a little scared but i'm sure i'll get over it.

Re: how did you know you were ready to start ttc
I agree that there is no true sign or time to say "OK, my life is perfect, let's start right now." Hell, I don't know if I can ever say that that will happen.
It is a very scary thing to decide to TTC. Just know that you will manage and it will be right when the time comes....good luck!!!!
I still don't think I am totally ready, but when are you ever?

Re: how did you know you were ready to start ttc
My DH and I originally agreed we would "try" next year. Recently, we didn't discuss "trying" it pretty much just happened...we just decided not to be careful anymore and if it happens it happens...no more worries and hopefully we will be blessed with wonderful news soon.

Re: how did you know you were ready to start ttc
I think in our case, I needed Dh to be ready. I wanted to TTC last year, but he wasn't there yet. We both had some goals we wanted to achieve first, and we did. So, now it is time. However, I don't think it is ever "perfect timing"...

Re: how did you know you were ready to start ttc
My GF and I were talking about this last night! I am new to this site, former LIW, as I was just married in April. Although, we have been living together for almost 3 years, so I feel like I've been married forever. I'll be 30 this year and he just turned 28. I think I am going to go off the pill sometime b/w Jan and May next year. I agree that you don't necessarily need a house first, but that is our mission now. Besides, my apt is only 1 BR. Good luck! I'm sure when my friends see this post on TTC, I will get phone calls/e-mails!!! I'm still a zygote, lol.

Re: how did you know you were ready to start ttc
I feel EXACTLY like you. I was so on the fence for a long time- even questioned if I wanted kids because of the way life changes when you have them. It's hard when you finally feel like you're happy with how things are...you like your sleep , your career, your freedom, your body pre-baby . I think I finally knew it was time when DH brought it up! He was hinting at it and I was just shocked. He said when I say go, we go.
Then I started to think, this is the right time. For one thing, I'm going to be 34 so I gotta start anyway. And it's just been a rough year in our family- lots of stuff has gone on that's been a downer. So it's time to make things bright again!
Sometimes you gotta just go for it! like everyone always tells me, there's never a perfect time. But you'll be happy when it happens!

This is SO true! We did wait to start TTC until we bought a house. But we knew that for us it was only about a year or so and we were okay with that. It's definitely not necessary though. I've felt ready for a while now. I do think about all the things I will have to give up, but in my heart it feels totally worth it.

Re: how did you know you were ready to start ttc
I never had a clear sign and DH was ready before me. I just feel like we're at a good place right now in our lives and marriage and I can't wait to be a mommy!!!
I really knew last month with my BFN...I never felt so crushed in my life!!!
